Planning a Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya

Flying back home!

My site inspection in Mexico is over. After spending almost one week in Playa del Carmen and 2 full weekends in Puerto Vallarta it’s time to start making a decision. Where to get married?

My fiancé Mike and I both love Puerto Vallarta. Its sunsets, the Malecon (boardwalk) and the ambiance it’s great. It’s also convenient for my family that is located in Guadalajara; just 4 hours driving. But our heart it’s in Playa del Carmen.

Here are the reasons why:

+ Church.

Mike and I are having a Catholic ceremony and the Churches in Playa are unbeatable. They are gorgeous, ocean front and small (up to 80-100 pax). Nothing beats having the ocean as your witness!

+The town.

Some of Mike’s relatives don’t travel outside the US as often and we really want to encourage people to venture themselves and explore!  Playa del Carmen and its 5th Avenue is ideal for shopping, casual drinks, great coffee shops (and starbucks too!) and they can cater pretty much any taste.

+The ocean.

Long white sandy beaches, Turquoise Ocean and wonderful sunrises are what Playa del Carmen has to offer! Remember that in the Cancun’s area we don’t have sunsets in the ocean, but sunrises are as lovely!

+Its simply our ideal tourist destination.

My fiancée and I enjoy the “out of the resort” experience”. We love trying new beach clubs every day, dinning in different restaurants and choosing our days! Playa del Carmen is surrounded by the Mayan Culture, there are amazing ruins that you can visit, fabulous water parks and great ocean activities (sailing, snorkeling, Diving, extreme sports).

Even though we haven’t given any down payments or saved the date we are pretty sure Playa del Carmen will be the ideal destination for my very own wedding!
